Seamstress Overview
FashionBar is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Seamstress to support custom garment projects, alterations, and fashion production work. This role supports designers, clients, and in-house initiatives within a professional fashion showroom environment.
Seamstresses may work independently on assigned projects either on-site or remotely, depending on project needs. This position is ideal for candidates with strong technical sewing skills, experience working with high-end garments, and an eye for craftsmanship and detail.
This is a paid hourly position.
Responsibilities
Seamstress duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Designing, altering, and repairing garments for custom and production projects
Working independently on assigned projects in the showroom or remotely
Operating industrial sewing equipment, including straight stitch machines, sergers, and buttonhole machines
Interpreting patterns and working with a variety of fabrics
Constructing lined garments, pockets, invisible zippers, elastic components, and detailed finishes
Performing hand sewing, beading, and fine-detail work
Supporting evening wear, bridal wear, and tailored garments
Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality control throughout garment construction
Meeting deadlines and delivering work on time in alignment with production schedules
Qualifications
Proven experience as a seamstress or in a related fashion or retail environment
Strong knowledge of garment construction, patterns, and textiles
Experience using industrial sewing machines and tools
Ability to work with complex garments and detailed finishes
Familiarity with embroidery techniques is a plus
Understanding of current fashion trends
Excellent attention to detail, focus, and patience
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible hours as needed

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Reliable experience in garment construction and alterations
Familiarity with sewing tools and equipment (machines, needles, measuring tools, scissors)
