Seamstress (Part-Time) Overview

FashionBar is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Seamstress to support custom garment projects, alterations, and production work. This role is ideal for candidates with strong technical sewing skills who are looking for flexible, project-based work within a professional fashion environment.

Seamstresses may work on-site in the showroom or independently from home, depending on project requirements and scheduling needs.

This is a paid hourly, part-time position.

Responsibilities

Part-Time Seamstress duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, altering, and repairing garments for custom and production projects

  • Working independently on assigned projects either in the showroom or remotely

  • Operating industrial sewing equipment, including straight stitch machines, sergers, and buttonhole machines

  • Interpreting patterns and working with a variety of fabrics

  • Constructing lined garments, pockets, invisible zippers, elastic components, and detailed finishes

  • Performing hand sewing and fine-detail work, including beading

  • Supporting evening wear, bridal wear, and tailored garments as needed

  • Maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and quality control

  • Meeting deadlines and delivering completed work on time

Skills & Qualifications

  • Exceptional sewing and garment construction skills

  • Strong understanding of fashion design principles, fabrics, and patterns

  • Ability to accurately measure and perform basic garment calculations

  • Creative problem-solving skills and strong visual judgment

  • Excellent attention to detail, focus, and patience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate when needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proven experience as a seamstress or relevant experience within the fashion or retail industry

  • Familiarity with sewing equipment and tools, including machines, needles, measuring tools, and scissors

  • Knowledge of embroidery techniques is a plus

  • Understanding of current fashion trends

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and quality workmanship

  • Customer-focused mindset when working on client-facing projects
